What is a Personal Injury Claim?
Personal injury claims refer to any situation where one person seeks compensation from another person, a company or a public authority that has caused him or her to suffer some form of harm.
What has to be proved?
To bring a successful claim for compensation, another party must be shown to be entirely, or to some degree, responsible for causing your injuries.
Will I have to visit your office at anytime?
This is not necessary, however if you would feel more comfortable discussing your case face to face with your dedicated legal representative, we are happy to welcome you to our offices or we can arrange to visit you at home or work. The majority of our clients prefer us to handle their injury claim entirely by phone, email and post. So there’s no need to make a special trip you don’t wish to.
What happens if have an accident with an uninsured driver?
Fortunately, there is an organisation called the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) which is funded by all of the motor insurance companies in the UK. Where a driver who has injured you is uninsured or untraceable, it is still likely that we can claim on your behalf from the MIB.
Will I have to pay any costs during my claim?
We do not charge our clients a fee for representing them, if we are not confident in our ability o win the case we will not accept the instruction. However, there are a few exceptions to this, such as if you decided not to pursue a claim half way through the process, or did not attend a medical appointment arranged for you, then we would reserve the right to charge you for costs we had incurred on your behalf.
Will I have to attend a medical?
In order to ensure that you can claim compensation for personal injury, it is essential that you prove the full extent of your injuries. That’s why we will normally arrange for you to be examined by an independent doctor – and it is essential that you turn up for this appointment.
How much compensation should I expect?
It isn’t possible to put an exact figure on this, as every compensation claim is calculated based on things like pain and suffering both past and future, as well as loss of earnings and other expenses. All we can promise you is that you will get 100% of what you are entitled to. For a better understanding of the likely damages awarded for certain injuries please visit our ‘Personal Injury Chart’.
How long will my case last?
We have a good working relationship with many of the leading Insurers which allows us to settle cases as promptly as possible, most straightforward accidents can often be settled in a few months. However where injuries are likely to cause a long term problem, we would advise that it is in the client’s best interest to establish their full extent before settling.
